NYS DOL Hazard Abatement Grant 2012-13 - For Safety & Compliance Training
Article 29 of the New York State Labor Law established a TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM ON OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (the Program) and charged the New York State Occupational Safety and Health Hazard Abatement Board (the Board) with the responsibility for awarding funds to eligible grantees. Under the terms of a Memorandum of Agreement, the Board gave the NYS Dept. of Labor (the Department) authority to administer the Program. This grant money is available to train your workforce.
The Hazard Abatement Board (HAB) awards grants for programs that provide occupational safety and health training for public and private employers, labor organizations, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and trade associations. Eligible programs must train and educate workers, supervisors and/or employers and must promote workplace accident and injury prevention. Approximately $6.5 million funding for training and education grants to a variety of employers and organizations throughout New York State. These grants strive to make the workplace safer through training of the workers’ in a wide variety of safety and health topics. Normally, grants approved by the HAB range in size from $1,000 to over $300,000.
The Board also administers Capital Abatement Program grants to public employers. These grants cover 75% of the cost of capital projects necessary to correct workplace hazards cited by the Public Employee Safety and Health Bureau (PESH) or where recommended in a consultation report. Additionally, the Board may recommend safety and health standards in accordance with the State Labor Law.
The goal of the Program is to promote safe and healthful conditions in the workplace through training, education, and other proven preventive programs.

To Whom It May Concern;
I am able to recommend Michael Keefe and his company Reditus as a Safety Consultant for industry. We turned to Michael for assistance in addressing short-comings in our safety programs. We had a deadline in which to respond to non-compliances identified by the NYS DOL. Michael took immediate action in reviewing the NYS DOL documents and establishing a proposal to address the issues, in the timeline required. He demonstrated a thorough understanding of the pertinent OSHA regulations. Michael’s proposal was complete and he worked with us to make it cost effective.
In implementing his proposal, I had an opportunity to work alongside Michael. His knowledge of the subject matter, his sincere interest in the health and welfare of our employees and his warm personality made it a pleasure to have him in our facility.
Michael delivered on every one of his deliverables, even arriving at CY Plastics by 6 AM one morning to conduct a necessary training class. His assistance was invaluable in addressing the NYS DOL concerns and as a result of his efforts, CY Plastics is a safer place to work today.
In summary, any manufacturing concern may rely on Michael to assist them in staying OSHA compliant, in a manner that you will find practical and effective.
Sincerely,
Andrew Molodetz
President

Dear Mr. Keefe:

We recently had Michael Keefe from Reditus conduct the 10 hour OSHA training program for our Maintenance and Grounds staff of 21 people. At Michael's suggestion this was done in two, five hour sessions which worked out very well.
Michael presented the information is a way that the guys understood what he was trying to convey. He kept the lecture time to a minimal by having the session interactive which kept the group engaged and attentive. I received very favorable input from the staff regarding Michael's training style and information presented.
We are currently in discussion with Michael to develop a present a year round monthly safety training program. I would strongly recommend utlilizing Michael for safety programs.
